Once again I’ve been back working on the “Discovery Quest Veterans” program, this time I was instructing on a weeks long mountain skills course. Over the 6 days we got into the niti gritty of micro navigation, route planning, steep ground and an overnight wild camp thrown in for good measure. We were based at the Langton adventure center in Hartsop near Patterdale which gave us a good place to rest and deliver our evening lectures on the weather, route planning and safety. As usual for our trips and this time our year the sun only made her presence felt the day we left, still the bad vis and rain was good weather to put those navigation skills into practice. This was the longest trip for the group so far and I think by the end we were all pretty tiered. Next trip is to the Yorkshire Dales for the 3 peaks challenge, lets hope the weather is kind to us this time and gives us some views.

Looking back towards Dollywaggon Pike, Falcon crag and the tongue with Ruthwaite lodge nestled below.
