In contrast to my “Winter ML”, yesterday marked the start of the summer climbing season with a bright sunshine and warm temperatures on a little known crag over the back of Simonside. Selby’s Cove is a nice sheltered spot with a number short interesting routes starting at S and moving up into the E numbers. Steve, Paul, Jack, Stephen and I all managed around 6 routes each with a combination of leads and seconds from everyone. With arms and legs burnt out by mid afternoon its was time to pack up and walk the 45 minutes back to the cars and off for refreshments. Another bright and sunny albeit frosty morning has me chomping at the bit again today, but I’m afraid mothers day has curtailed the other lads activities, suppose I should go and play the dutiful son as well.
