Another early start today saw me back into Corie an T-Sneachda for another couple of routes. Although the snow on the walk in was just as frozen as yesterday the air was noticeably different alternating between very cold blasts of spindrift intersperced with the occasional warm blast. One on route the Neve was noticeable different as well, more of polystyrene type foam which would not quite hold axe placements. Luckily there was the occasional ice and older footprints which had frozen place making Fluted Buttress Direct just doable if again unnerving. As I got higher on route the conditions only got worse, no doubt I was now above the inversion layer and thing were rather warm, luckelly the hardest part of the route was behind me but for a while I was thinking if I brought a 50/60m rope rather than 10m I’d have abseiled off.
After eleven’s I looked for something simpler and had a run up Fiacail Couloir and then down Fiacail ridge to end the day with some great views on the walk out. No big stories today I’m afraid I’m just to tired after 4 days of climbing, not helped today buy the fact I had to retrieve my goggles which flew off my head at the start of the Couloir and ended up back down at the Lochan.
